Markers in the house

Did I mention I have new markers?
They are taking me through different paths
and I like that

::

¿Os he dicho ya que tengo rotuladores nuevos?
Me están llevando por caminos nuevos
y eso me gusta

By the way, I've been interviewed here and here. Thanks to Iris and Bea!

Some sketches

..........................................................................................................

I must thank you for all your comments in the previous post. I've enjoyed reading them; they have cheered me up. I'd like to keep in mind that idea of "you can create time".

I'm always complaining about lack of time, but I must admmit I get the most out of what I have. As I've been telling you, November has been a month full of ongrowing ideas. I want to make ten things at a time. Thus the sketches drawn two months ago stay filed and silent and forgotten. I thought I'd take them out for a little walk every now and then...

A ghost was singing... (the beginning)

These are the sketches of two characters from a bigger project of a painting titled "A ghost was singing and I heard the song". I've thought you'd like me to share part of the creative process. These girls play an essential part in a composition I'm highly enjoying myself working on. You'll get to see the full outcome in a few days.

Busy

- How are you?
- Busy

no soy activista feminista
y soy feliz

¿Qué símbolos utilizáis vosotros?

...................................................................................................................

I like working with symbols, repetition and series. These symbols are helpful to analyze myself and the world around me. Most of the people that follow this blog and personally know me question me about items in my drawings. I like to feel a story waiting to be told in them, I like them to raise my smile and I don't want anybody to have a sad or unrestless approach. Where do these symbols come from... I have my theories, but I can assure you that:

I get great with men
I'm not a feminist activist
I have a wonderful husband (unbearded too)
and I'm happy

Which symbols do you use?

The day after

More drawings for my autumn project

After the birthday party, after the girls dressed in costumes, the jellys, the candy, the chocolate cake, the balloons; after the rain on the patio, the piled up guests, the books, the crayons; after the talk, the games, the laughs and the mess... I'm getting ready for sending the kids back to school, ready for going back to work and for all the little daily troubles that come along. Back to the real world.

Moleskining at the beach, part 2

This is what I see when I raise my eyes

And this is what I do when I low them again

After a couple of not very productive weeks, I've found out the pleasure of drawing each day at the beach

It's a long way to the top

Today I want to recomend the "roadmaps" series that two of
the blogs I read regularly are developing, Design for Mankind and Decor8. Now that we must get a inmediate satisfaction out of everything, and now that frustrations are so often generated by minimal delay, small failure or little deception, it's necessary to stress the importance of stopping and enjoying the ride, of making a bigger effort and getting our act together.

We are fortunate people. We have easy access to everybody's interests and if you want to show yours to the world you just have to sit down at your computer and key on. This fact should help us to work harder, make a bigger effort, try to learn from other people's talents, develop your own style to where it takes you and live your own big adventure. I'm trying it myself.

An impossing tree. Much rain has fallen to grow this tall. One day a small seed, a nature wonder some time later. Trees are stubdorn.

Have a nice weekend people!

Simple as a flower, and that's a complicated thing

We've entered springtime on our tiptoes and has revealed itself. Shy, unstable, elusive and unable to fulfill so many expectations of sun and contentment.

A couple of days ago we opened our door to some friends and they brought us the spring into the house. Nothing can compare to wildflowers, picked straight from the countryside, to feel the change of season. A change that many drops on my windows are denying day after day, all throughout Easter.

Everybody looks for their comfort. For the past few days my husband has been fascinated with his photo collection of a mosquito he picked at home. He, who's committed to scientific research, sees art in these microscopic images.
Yesterday, having another stormy morning aheade of us, he gathered friends and children and organized a visit to the lab. I'd only wish his enthusiasm were contagious. And that everybody found in their jobs their inspiration source and the pleasure he obtains in his.

As for me, on the other hand, I'm enjoying this little extra time to doodle and dream away.

Painted from memory

When I was a kid I was always stumbling upon images of girls reading under a leafy tree, dozing or staring at life. It's been some time since I saw one, but I still keep some in my memory.

When I was a kid, the only family Easter tradition were choclate eggs. We spent some days in the summer house: my parents, brother, sister, cousins, uncles, aunts and my gramma. I don't recall the cold or the atrocius dampness of this time of year. I can just recall my gramma hiding chocolate eggs in the garden for us to look for, if it didn't rain. Neither I can recall an indigestion. That's memory: it only takes out for a walk the sweet, the color and the fun. The tummy ache has been totally erased from memory.

So Easter has come. Rainy, noisy. It calls for some chocolate eggs hide and seek at home. Tempting my memory and building up my daughters'.

Shedding an easy tear or two

Today I want to stick up for sensitivity.
For the easy tears, drama and overacting.
I like that easiness for crying, that far from sadness, is just a reflection of sympathy.
That easy tear.

But then the north wind blew

The wind, my friend, cleans the soul
El viento, mi amigo, limpia el alma

El viento, mi amigo, trae confusión y duda
The wind, my friend, brings confussion and doubt

She would always say that she'd never go away
(she said) I would always have her heart
(she said) until death do us part
But then the north wind blew
Tell me what I'm gonna do
now that the north wind blew

Aeroplane

No quiero repetirme. Odio hacerlo. Si tuviera una buena razón... sería perdonable.
Murakami.

"Aeroplane: Or, How He Talked to Himself as if Reciting Poetry"
I don't want to say the same things many times. I hate doing it. Only if I had a good enough reason... I could be forgiven.
Murakami. His short stories book. It has filled my head with images, illustrations, evocative situations. I'm putting on paper the lines I want to hold back, as if keeping to myself the deep emotions the stories give me. I want to share these images. Share this language with you.

Dirty from the rain

Uno de esos días desapacibles
One of those unpleasant days

The glorious sound of hail hitting ground, window panes and roofs

Look up in the sky this night and something just wasn’t right…
But ain’t that the norm?
Peculiar feeling inside like it’s filling up a whole other form…
But ain’t that the norm?

Where is my mind?

The inspirational trip begins as soon as you sit at your computer. You have to let yourself go; images are suggestive, ambitious, delicate, complex, enigmatic, tender... On the other side of the screen hundreds of people undress their talent, make evident their obsessions, their projects, their motivations. This is a fascinating experience. Everything's inspiring me. There aren't blank pages left. I wish I could be a superhero, able to go through the screen and touch, smell and perceive so much talent better.
