Wishlist, part one.

Han llegado las primeras revistas de juguetes a nuestro buzón. La excitación de mis hijas al abrirlas es la misma que recuerdo tener de niña. Sin embargo, como madre no me hace tanta gracia que de golpe y porrazo se les llene los ojos de Barbies antes no deseadas, de cámaras de fotos de Hello Kitty que no sabían que existían, de sillitas de muñecos gemelares para las que no hay sitio en casa... Han empezado a hacer sus listas navideñas y van añadiendo líneas a diario. Y nosotros, los padres, tendremos que buscar el equilibrio entre su ilusión, el buen gusto, la educación, el sentido común y el pragmatismo.

Contagiada por ese espíritu de listas, yo también voy a ir sacando a la luz las mías. Estas son algunas de las cosas que no me importaría tener...

The firts toys catalogues have arrived at our mailbox. My daughters' excitement as they were opening them was similar to mine as a child. However, as a mother, I dread this moment, when their eyes fill with never-before-wanted Barbies, Hello Kitty cameras they didn't know they even existed, twin-doll-strollers that could never fit in our small house... Still they are already making their own christmas lists and they're adding lines by the day. Us, the parents, will have to look for some balance between their hopes, good taste, education, common sense and pragmatism.

This contagious atmosphere has made me get out my own listings. So here, these are some of the things I wouldn't mind owning...

Gracias Amy por enviarme la colección de fanzines Good to know. Estoy encantada. Es la primera vez que gano un sorteo en un blog, y nada menos que en Pikaland, que junto con Design from Mankind y Dear Ada, son constante fuente de placer para los ojos ávidos.
Estos números de Good to know recopilan las opiniones de decenas de artistas sobre unos cuantos temas. No he podido evitar empezar por el último, titulado "¿Crees que los artistas necesitan estudiar Bellas Artes para llegar a ser artistas?". Fascinante.

I want to thank Amy for sending me this snail mail with a pack of Good to know zines. I'm so delighted. I believe this is the first time I win a giveaway, and nothing less than at Pikaland's, which is besides Design for Mankind and Dear Ada a constant source of pleasure for hungry eyes.
These issues compile opinions and quotes from dozens of artists about several topics. I couldn't help starting off reading the latest issue, titled "Do you think that artists need to have degrees/qualifications from art school in order to be one?". Fascinating.

It's raining, so I don't want to drive anywhere but stay at home and enjoy myself, but unfortunately that won't happen soon

Esta foto es bastante mala, pero no he tenido tiempo de más. Estoy trabajando en varias cosas en paralelo. Entre ellas, un encargo muy especial del que no puedo decir mucho ahora, pero que me hace pasarlo bien.
Quiero agradeceros a todos los que pasais por aquí que dediqueis unos minutos a pasar por mi mundo, aunque sea de puntillas. Cada uno de vuestros comentarios va dejando su pequeña huella y algunos se cuelan en mi cabeza a lo largo del día y me hacen sonreir o plantearme las cosas de manera diferente. It's a terrible picture, I reckon, but I'm afriad I didn't have time or light to snap a better one. I'm working on several things simultaneously and among them, a very special comission, although I can't show you yet. But it's giving me a fantastic and enjoyable time.
I want to thank everybody passing by my blog, spending a few minutes to enter my world even on tiptoes. Each of your comments are leaving its own trace and some slip into my mind throughout the day, making me smile or making me reconsider life as I see it. Also, I particularly want to thank Ciara whose blog Milkmoon has been named Blog of Note, for mentioning me and bringing to Pintameldia new eyes. You are all very welcome.
