Gracias Amy por enviarme la colección de fanzines Good to know. Estoy encantada. Es la primera vez que gano un sorteo en un blog, y nada menos que en Pikaland, que junto con Design from Mankind y Dear Ada, son constante fuente de placer para los ojos ávidos.
Estos números de Good to know recopilan las opiniones de decenas de artistas sobre unos cuantos temas. No he podido evitar empezar por el último, titulado "¿Crees que los artistas necesitan estudiar Bellas Artes para llegar a ser artistas?". Fascinante.

I want to thank Amy for sending me this snail mail with a pack of Good to know zines. I'm so delighted. I believe this is the first time I win a giveaway, and nothing less than at Pikaland's, which is besides Design for Mankind and Dear Ada a constant source of pleasure for hungry eyes.
These issues compile opinions and quotes from dozens of artists about several topics. I couldn't help starting off reading the latest issue, titled "Do you think that artists need to have degrees/qualifications from art school in order to be one?". Fascinating.

Gifted moments

Me he dado cuenta que hay regalos que se aprecian mejor y se recuerdan más intensamente con el tiempo. A mí me regalaron el día de mi cumpleaños un paseo en moto. Unos minutos dejándome llevar, notando el aire, el paisaje, el tráfico, la gente fugaz. Sin palabras, sin necesidad más que de disfrutar. Quizá me conforme con poco, pero creo que me conformo con lo mejor.

I've realized there are gifts that you learn to appreciatte better and remember more passionately after a little while. On my birthday I was given a motorbike ride. Some minutes letting myself be carried, noticing the air, the view, the traffic, the fleeting people. Wordless, no reason to do anything but enjoy. Maybe you think I make do with little or that I'm easy to satisfy, but I can say again I'm satisfied with the little things in life.

Este es un maravilloso regalo que me han hecho espontáneamente.

Una profesora del colegio de mis hijas creyó que me gustaría uno de los anillos que ella misma hace. Y me lo regaló. Y acertó. Y estoy tan feliz. A veces no acierto a comprender que un anillo, o un pequeño detalle me haga sentir tan bien. Bonito, ¿verdad?

This is a wonderful gift that I've been given spontaneously.

A teacher from my kids' school thought I'd like one of her handmade rings. And she gave it to me. And she was right. And I'm so glad. Sometimes I don't really get why a ring, or a small thing for that matter, can make me feel this good. Pretty, isn't it?
