Happenstance
words that make me forget the rain:
happenstance
pepper
satellite
delicacy
photosynthesis
parsimony
blink an eye
fluttering
...
what about yours?
::
palabras que me hacen olvidar la lluvia:
casualidad
pimienta
satélite
delicadeza
fotosíntesis
parsimonia
guiño
revoloteo
...
¿cuáles son las vuestras?

Season starts here
Every year we are eager to embrace our first days at the beach. Spring always teases us into believing the sunny days are here to stay. Far from true, we know, but we enjoy this samples, as perfect and sweet as they come.

Last Sunday
We went to the Cirque du Soleil show.
Not only we had a great time, but I felt compelled to draw contortionists, jugglers and trapeze people. And that's what I'll be doing today. For the sake of it.
Pictures taken on our way back home on the tram. It wasn't allowed to take pictures of the show but we were too busy taking everything in as to reach for our cameras, anyway.

The fair
This morning we've been to the antique fair. Hail hit incenssantly the rooftops and indoors it smelled of old furniture. We've fallen in love with a couple of fifties pieces, we've forgotten about them soon after, while we walked the next aisle; we've met with stuff from our past such as toys, gadgets and books, and we've filled our morning with odd images (and some misspelled signs and hidden messages left by friends who came by before me maybe)
A fair on a Sunday
::

David y Milagros
When you live in not-too-large a city you can drive a little away, and sooner than you expect you find yourself in a complete different world. My salt and sand soul would rather steer me to the sea, but not this time. A little over an hour from home we arrived at the mountains where a cousin of mine has a cabin to retreat when life's rhythm becomes a bit stressing. Just a poor old shepherd's hut, slowly improved and quite cozy, where you exchange comfort and commodities for quietness and mountain tranquility.
That is the world of David and Milagros. This shepherds couple, real "pasiegos", the last of the nomadics, change their emplacement with the seasons, to better care of their livestock. They work long hours every day, without distinction of holidays or weekends. Their life is hard, rough and lonely. Their conversation is full of words that connect with the land, with grazing and nature, which undoubtedly will be lost in time. We were amazed by them and pitied them all at once, being faced to a life where everything is expendable. I was curious to know more about their desires and memories, but there, in the mountains, questions seemed superfluous.
We left with fresh milk, kilos of nuts, vegetables and muffins. There stood David and Milagros, their cows in the stable, donkeys on the grassland, sheep on the hillside, colts lost high up in the cliffs and the two nicer and smarter shepherd's dogs I've ever met, at the door of the cabin tail-waving us goodbye.

Who left the sun behind?
... because we have it.
Day after day, the sun shows up through the morning mist.
Already October and such a nice and warm feeling in my bones.
We are off to photograph the mountains today.
It should be fun.

Where is my mind?
With your feet in the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse
But there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself
Where is my mind?

Your head will collapse
But there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself
Where is my mind?

Of princesses, zodiacs and cartwheels
They had been counting down the days for weeks. My princesses like Los Zodiacs and finally they were to attend one of their gigs: it was nearby, at a reasonable time and outdoors. We were not the only ones who thought this would be a good, and possibly unique, opportunity for children. Many friends showed up with their families and children filled the village square.
They had their fun. Marmalade danced and sang every song; Nutella spend the night doing scartwheel nonstop. From the stage it must have been a surreal scene: kids jumping, adults with their sneakers glued to the ground, an old man dancing syncopatedly, etc. And they, los Zodiacs, reeling off songs as they had done the previous night in Altea. Only with the fatigue of travel weighing down their eyelashes.
Chatting with them before the show brought back thousands of memories, of cities and tours. My first tour, with long-distance trips by van and my nineteen-year-old smile unaffected, despite the lack of rest or sleep. I remember dozens of absurd concerts in town squares, with freezing temperatures, musicians playing with gloves, weird stages or the most unlikely audience.
So anyway, watching them playing the other night, I realized the handful of pages that have already passed and now it's time to enjoy other things. For example, concerts that will come our way this close from home.
::

Even if the winds are good enough, that's a pretty long trip
The good weather we are having not only gave me the chance of spending a gorgeous day at the beach, but also it camouflaged the nervousness I experiment every time Unai departures on one of his projects. This time he and seven crew members are heading to Newfoundland in Canada. We'll be counting out the days, the months, until they return.

Invitation to a water meeting
Yesterday we went to a beautiful nearby site: the Uribe-Gamboa reservoir. We found out about the Aldayeta Yacht Club, a beautiful place with friendly and very welcoming people. They enjoy an enviable natural environment, striving to make their children forget the city every now and again and have them running around, playing, windsurfing, riding a canoe, making twig-huts... anyway, acting like children. We still have yet to pay a visit on a sunny day to witness the legendary sunsets that everybody there rabted about.
Thanks for a fun day and a sailing stroll.
Here some paper puppets of mine are mentioned. Thank you Ingrid!

¡Gracias Ingrid!
