New year, old giveaway

Husband talked me into doing something different for this giveaway. So I've left most of it to him. Please forgive our inexperience as filmmakers, our clumsiness putting together the footage and all the blurry shots. Once we had all our act together, YouTube has changed the original video format, so there are things going on at the top of the frame that have been left out in the final version. Anyway, we are too tired of learning and experimenting to change it. We've had our fun. I hope all of you like it.
Thanks to all who participated in the giveaway. Thanks for your suggestions too. I've written all of them down. Now, I'll try to fit some slight variations in the blog without changing the soul and heart of it.

Husband me ha sugerido hacer algo diferente con este sorteo. Así que le he dejado la mayor parte a él. Por favor, perdonad nuestra inexperiencia grabando, nuestra torpeza montado el video y las tomas borrosas. Una vez que lo hemos puesto todo junto, YouTube nos ha cambiado el formato, así que hay cosas que aparecían en la parte superior del video que se han quedado fuera en la versión final. Pero ya está, estamos demasiado cansados de aprender y experimentar por hoy como para ponernos a cambiarlo. Y nos hemos divertido. Espero que de todas formas os guste.

I was packing some of my stuff when I noticed this guy, hanging on my wall. You know I am a big Iron & Wine fan, and couldn't help but making this paper puppet a few months back. I must admit that Sam Beam is a character I am very fond of, not only because I like his music and because I recently learned he's a father to a bunch of girls, but also because he looks exactly like a friend of mine, who's a painter. For many reasons then, I didn't feel like packing him away for the next two years, so I thought of giving it away to any of my readers and music fans. It has some imperfections and a few flaws due to aging unframed on my studio wall, but I like it anyway.

Buenos días lunes!

Estaba metiendo en cajas parte de mi material cuando he visto a este chico, colgado en la pared. Ya sabéis que soy fan de Iron & Wine y hace unos meses no pude resistir la tentación de hacer un muñeco de papel. Confieso que le tengo cariño al personaje de Sam Beam, no sólo porque me gusta su música y porque recientemente he descubierto que tiene un puñado de hijas, si no también porque se parece extraordinariamente a un amigo mío pintor. Así que por muchas razones no me apetecía condenarlo a pasar un par de años en una caja, por lo que he decidido dárselo a uno de los lectores de este blog fans de la música. Tiene algunas imperfecciones y toques por haber estado colgado en mi pared sin enmarcar, pero aún así a mí me gusta.

The end of this year, the new beginning and a giveaway

Something I've learned this year is that everything keeps connecting in the most unforeseen and unpredictable ways. The past might be shaped by the things we leave behind and cannot experiment anymore, but surely some of those moments emerge here and there and some other instants turn to be the anchor mooring you. 
I don't want this year to end just like that. Its drama, its tender bits long gone. I want to believe this year has been the prelude to a better year. My mind puts years together like months meet in the calendar I made. 
I reckon we like to make fresh starts, but I'll try to build over old scratches and smudges, I'll try to look over the previous month to check on all the things left undone; and look over the next month and see it's empty and full of possibilities.

Si algo he aprendido este año es que en la vida todo va conectándose de maneras insospechadas e imprevisibles. Quizá el pasado sean las cosas que vamos dejando atrás y no podemos experimentar de nuevo, pero algunos de esos momentos emergen aquí y alla y otros van formando el ancla que te amarra a tierra.
Yo no quiero que este año acabe sin más. Con sus momentos dramáticos y con sus momentos de ternura, quiero creer que ha sido el preludio de un año mucho mejor. Mi mente va uniendo los años como unidos están los meses en mi calendario. 
Ya sé que nos gusta eso de hacer borrón y cuenta nueva, pero yo intentaré construir sobre los borrones, mirar el mes anterior y darme cuenta de todo lo que he dejado de hacer; y mirar hacia el mes próximo y verlo vacío y lleno de posibilidades.

Of forces of nature and a giveaway

We managed to sleep during last night's forecasted hurricane. Yesterday we were all worrying about it and almost didn't stop to think of much else. This morning I've gotten up with the images of Chile's earthquake in my mind. My thoughts are with Rina and other blogfriends and blogreaders in Chile. I hope you are all well.

On another different note, today there's a mark in my calendar, and as it happens I found one of those handmade calendars left, ready to deliver. I thought some of you might be interested in owning it or giving it to a friend. So let's have a giveaway to lift our spirits. Hemos conseguido dormir mientras el anunciado huracán pasaba por aquí. Ayer nos preocupaba y casi no tuvimos tiempo de pensar en otra cosa. Esta mañana me he levantado con las imágenes del terremoto de Chile en mi cabeza. Me he acordado de Rina y de otros amigos bloggers y de los lectores chilenos de mi blog. Espero que estéis todos bien.

Ya en un tono diferente, hoy he recordado que es un día marcado en mi calendario. Y resulta que he encontrado uno de mis calendarios huérfano, preparado para ser enviado. First autumn giveaway!!!!

Esta temporada va a estar llena de pequeñas sorpresas. Abrimos boca con unos cuadernos pintameldia, que en breve estarán a la venta en alguna tienda de Bilbao y ya se pueden conseguir aquí, mandandome un mail.
Se trata de unos cuadernos tamaño A5, diseñados por mi gran amigo Jorge a partir de unos dibujos míos. El mérito es, desde luego, suyo. Los cuadernos vienen en aleatorios packs de dos.
Las fotos muestran los cuatro modelos.

This season will be full of little nice surprises. For starters, here we have some pintameldia notebooks, that will be soon selling at some cute stores in Bilbao. You can also buy them directly from me by sending me an email.
We are talking of four different A5 size notebooks, designed by my great friend Jorge, who's worked with some of my drawings. Doubtlessly the merit is his. The notebooks are packed randomly in twos.
