El showroom abrió el día más caluroso del año y aún así estuvo muy bien. Tengo que agradecer a Marta de El jardín de Lulaila por su iniciativa y su buen gusto. Todos los diseñadores tenían cosas increíbles (encontraréis sus links en la página de Showloft), pero debo admitir que las piezas de El Armario de Lulu y de Lady Desidia nos cautivaron especialmente. No pude reprimir el impulso de comprarme ese collar con espejito incluido y unos broches de japonesitas para las niñas. Fue divertido.

The showroom opened on the hottest day of the year and it was great. I want to thank Marta from El Jardín de Lulaila for her initiative and fantastic eye. Every designer in the room had amazing stuff (you'll find links to them at Showloft), but I must confess that the jewelry from El Armario de Lulu and Lady desidia's crafts were among my favourites. I couldn't help buying the pendant with the little mirror and some japanese doll brooches for my daughters. It was fun.

Voy a aprovechar que husband se ha ido hoy de viaje, por lo que el bochorno que sentirá al leer mis palabras quedará levemente aplazado, para hacerle un pequeño homenaje. Todo empieza por decir que he tenido una primavera asquerosa. Me he dejado llevar hasta lugares de mi alma que no reconocía en mí. Lugares tristes e insatisfechos. Al igual que hace unos años él puso en mis manos unos rotuladores y unos cuadernos y me insufló el ánimo de volver a garabatear y reencontrarme, del mismo modo, me ha dado las herramientas para sortear el bache. Y entre otras, una de estas herramientas es, sin ninguna duda, su fe en mi creatividad. Tengo un nuevo proyecto que es probable que me lleve meses desarrollar, por lo que, conociéndome, quizá acabe en algun cajón olvidado. Pero al menos habrá servido para abrir una nueva puerta y volver a mirarme contenta en el espejo.

Seeing that husband is gone on a short trip and I can therefore delay his probable embarrassment when he reads this, I'm going to pay tribute to him today. I'd better begin saying how awfully down I have been feeling this spring. I've entered places in my soul I didn't know. Sad and unsatisfied places. And then, as he did a couple of years ago when he put some brand new pens and sketchbooks in my hands and force me to meet my inner self again, he's given me again the tools and reasons to negotiate this bad patch. Among these tools is undoubtlessly his faith in my creativity. I have a new project in mind that it could take months to carry out. If you know me well then you know this could be enough reason to end up stuck in a drawer, but just the same. It's all worthy. I've opened a new door and I look at my reflection happily.

Me voy a trabajar cargada de ibuprofeno y paracetamol. Gracias a todos por vuestros buenos deseos. También gracias a todos los que aguantaron en persona mis conversaciones incoherentes y mi humor cambiante. De verdad, se me iba la cabeza. Hoy no me siento mejor, pero la gripe tiene sus días contados.

Gripe

Me estoy poniendo enferma. Una pequeña gripe lleva rondandome un par de días. Hoy siento que la cabeza se me va a ratos y sólo pienso en cerrar los ojos y descansar. Meto la mano en el bolsillo interior del bolso y acaricio el sobre de ibuprofeno, mi muleta para seguir con este día. Mañana ya será mejor.

I'm coming down with a cold. The flu has been prowling around me for the last couple of days. Today I feel a little dizzy and I can only think of closing my eyes and rest. I put my hand inside my bag's inner pocket and caress the ibuprofen package that I keep there, the perfect prop to get on with the day. Surely tomorrow I'll feel better.

Elisa's journey. Part 1.

Mi cuñada y su novio, que es australiano, están cumpliendo ese deseo que hemos tenido todos alguna vez de montarnos en un coche y cruzar el país. Eso sí, el país en esta ocasión es Australia. Hace tiempo que la envidia sana dejó de escaparseme por los poros para ser reemplazada por una sensación de asombro y deslumbramiento. Hemos recibido cientos de fotos y videos de un país espectacular, que ellos están recorriendo exhaustivamente. Nunca creí que un lugar me pudiese cautivar de esta manera a través de la experiencia y los recuerdos de otros. Y quería compartirlo poco a poco con vosotros.

My sister in law and her australian boyfriend are fulfilling my wish, that is, everybody's dream of getting a car and driving cross country. Actually, they're driving all over Australia. It's been some time since the envy has given way to a breathtaking and dazzling feeling. Yes, I am dazzled. They have sent us hundreds of pictures and videos of the espectacular country they're travelling up and down. I never thought a place could captivate my soul this much through other people's experience and memories. And I wanted to share it with you.
