Bringing back the Twentieth Century for the day

This postcard that Anairam has sent me, has made me realize how much I long for things that sound too much Twentieth Century:

To write and to receive postcards, especially from friends away on adventurous trips or faraway lovers lost in other countries.
To buy stamps at the corner shop.
To listen to my records holding and examining the cover sleeve, following the lyrics of every song.
To wait impatiently to my favourite bands' new albums to be released.
To buy and to read the newspaper daily, opinion colums, editorials and all.
To leave a message with a friend's mom.
To ask if somebody had called while I was away.
To fight over the tv remote control.
To change currency when you cross the border.
To come back from the States with a suitcase packed with second hand books.
To see movies at the local film club.
To rent a movie and invite my friends over to watch it.
Leaning on pinball machines that crowded every bar.
To walk home in the early hours of the morning.

I am sure you can think of many things that you remember fondly from last century.

Thank you for this post - now I remember too. The brief chats with roommate's or boyfriend's family and friends when they called for the other, and you picked up! Such a bonus!
I feel fortunate to be able to say: Those were good times :-)
