The pretty bloggers

Me he levantado y la tos había desaparecido.

I woke up and the cough was gone. After more than twenty persistent days, it was gone. And I've thought let's see if my brain starts functioning normally. It was staggering lately.
For the past couple of weeks I have left some things halfdone and unfortunately I've forgotten to take care of a few important things. Because even if sometimes I give the impression to cover many areas, to make many things, that's one of the fantasies of blogs. We build mirages.
I, for instance, imagine bloggers I interact with to be handsome, with good taste, a wonderful house, good eye for fashion and good taste in music. I imagine them fully active, with marvellous families and friends, and parties, and exhibits, and... I already know that couldn't be always the case. I am not that naive, but it is part of Internet fantasy. There's a lotta people highly creative out there, that's for sure. And I imagine them all nice and pretty.
And now that I'm talking about this and feeling that lately the nice/kind concept comes to mind very often, I don't want to miss the chance of speaking of Design for Mankind. More specifically of my first appearance in an American magazine: MankindMag has been born, featuring my Hand Project and my name is on the cover!
Thanks Erin, thanks. Here I don't need to use the fantasy: I know that she is pretty, she has great taste and I'm assumming the rest too.

Un poco rollo "Hurts so good"

WOW! congratulations, that's great news! :D
I have also that kind of imagination about all the bloggers, it's funny:)

oh, esti, this is so true! it's so much fun to imagine the lives of our "e-friends", to think about what they do outside of the blog world. you found just the right words to describe it. palabras lindas como siempre.

your work in mankind mag was beautiful; i can't wait to get my print copy! aimee

saw your work in the e mag last night--very nicely done. the writing as well as the art. you're an old pro!!

you bring up some interesting ideas here. Art doesn't come out of people who look and live like magazine articles; does it.?

I am a crab apple. ! :) You know that.

i think about it a lot and always try to be careful not to come across as 'the selling a lifestyle' kind of thing. i treat tinyred as my ideas lab and mostly a way to keep track of my own 'process' as my work is very process orientated. and i'm never afraid to express the bad, difficult day as well as the good and happy... (through a sketch, a drawing, a photograph, etc) that's what art is for, isn't it? forms of expression, representations of our beliefs, trials and tribulations through our never-ever perfect lives!
Perfection is just a crap concept invented by capitalism.
i recognize good blogs by their honesty and truthfulness and long live beautiful blogs like Pinta me el dia!!!!
it brings joy to my day, everyday! :)

You are so right Esti:
I'm stunningly beautiful, have the most well behaved and smart son, time for him and for my love, a fantastic home, I cook marvelous food, never show any temper, stay in touch with all my friends, pay my bills on time, have exhibit after exhibit and sell my all my art pieces...

I could go on and on.

Oh right! Ha, ha, alexandra, I knew you were that perfect!!

Thanks jo, thereza, mansuetude and everybody for your insight thoughts. You are really helpful bringing up your personal view to this subject.

Internet fantasy: In February I had an enamel week on my blog: I showed step by step how I made a commission. What I didn't mention was that I had an eye infection, had to wear my glasses that I never wear and just kept dropping them in everything, I had high fever and everything just seemed to work against me: the copy machine, the opening of the oven etc (might have mentioned some technical problems.)

I thought I was going to die - but I had no choice; I had to make those enamels that week - I had taken time off from teaching, I had booked the workshop, I had a deadline - and an upcoming exhibit . It was then or never!

But you know - you don't want to be whining. I basically try to keep a positive tone. If a friend has an exhibit - and it is not any good; I'll just don't mention it!

Glad you're feeling better, and you are too sweet to assume that I'm as fabulous as you think I am.

It's SOOO not the case, but you are a dear for thinking this. :)

And just so you know--- I owe the mag to people like you--- you've earned the recognition for your fantastic project, Esti!!!!

I hope you realize. :)

alexandra, I totally agree with you and I guess what happened to you happens to every one of us sometime. We keep the whining and the frustrating bits to ourselves; but sometimes i just feel like telling some of it, so I unload my soul and people see more of my real self. I'm on my way to accept my happinness through my imperfect life. I'm still learning. :)

It's so fun to read these comments about percieved perfection on people's blogs! I've had some real-life friends get quite upset at my blog because they think I lead a perfect life from the "pretty" pictures I post. But as all bloggers know...it's all in the camera angle. And nobody or their life is perfect...
