The winter of our discontent

My week has been full of contradictions. Yesterday, I bordered on a little creative crisis and did not like at all. I was mad at myself. From the day I left my desk job and started working at home, I have been proclaiming the joy of devoting myself to create. And yet, even if a day like yesterday can ruin my mood, it certainly has not diminished my happiness. A contradiction.
It's not that I didn't know what to do. I have dozens of sketches that I can draw, handfuls of lists of things to do, tasks and assignments. For the first time in a long time, I felt I couldn't capture the images exactly as I wanted. When I got myself down to it, the image vanished or changed. Every ten minutes, I switched to something else and nothing was effective. I believe it was an identity crisis, a block of visual language. And left me crippled.
I need to create daily, but I need to be comfortable with the images and the language. Even if I have goals and projects, it is worthless if I cannot find the words to tell a story.
I've been told it''ll be a very sunny weekend and that it'll make me happy.

Me enfadé conmigo misma.
Y me dejó baldada.

I was just going to say yesterday's drawings look like you been pushing your style in new ways. I am sure you'll be feeling better today :)

I know exactly how you feel, sometimes its with me the same way.As when the skys are grey said, if you change your style, it is often associated with such confusing emotions. I think than its better to doing something totally different like going in a café, ice skating or something else, because everything needs its time and you can't force it. So its better to relax and see what the next day brings.

I can totally relate to this post. Some days I struggle with the same stuff. For me it almost always boils down to being overly perfectionistic and being to concerned with the outcome of my work and the fear that it won't measure up to my standards. Stopping and doing something mundane, like laundry always helps :-) x
