Stones and fossils

::

Each stone has been quietly there for years, dozens of years, rolling on the beach. So they will remain. We are nothing but ephemeral and even so we take ourselves rather seriously. My steps on this shore won't be remembered after the first high tide. Of this algae its shadow will remain, fossilized, like a ghost whose purple color has faded away. Stones are beautiful, imperfect, quiet and mundane. And they will outlive us.

oh my heart. this is so beautiful...in both languages (but especially in spanish just because it's my favorite language in the world). i, too, love stones. i feel a deep connection with them and often wish that i could share in the primordial wisdom that they must have accumulated over the millennia. oh what a privilege to be as wise and happy as stones.

Y además tus piedras tienen ojos y vida...

we do take our selves rather seriously, in light of just being on this gorgeous earth for a little glimpse of time. so true...
