In a blur

(from top: a band of ducks in the Christmas sky, the girls awing at the lights, blurry husband, dancing in the dark)

Felicidades Ben!

It's finished. I didn't mean to take such a break from the blog, but I couldn't help it. As many of you know, I work at a store, a rather quiet store, except during Christmas season. During Christmas my little universe fills with unknown faces and voices, stressed people, usually badly behaved, and exceptionally a bunch of persons with a smile and a thank you for me and my mates. In general, it seems quite clear that we like to keep our Christmas spirit for meals, gatherings and friends. Apart from that, it's the war.
It has finished and on this day, Epiphany, that everybody in Spain is opening presents, my greatest achievement is a good load of sleep and quietness. Thus, everything's diluted today, everything flows and I'm back to my life, my routine, my blog and my pencils.
Furthermore, I can now enjoy my sister in law and her boyfriend's visit. Today's his birhday.
Happy Birthday Ben!

This so rings true! I love the quiet after the storm, which the holidays seem to become. It really makes you appreciate normal, regular days much more though :)

retail stores ARE war zones during christmas! i worked the retail floor through college, and it would take me weeks to recover from the long hours and those awful customers. then after college i worked as a buyer, and even at the corporate level, the holidays still drained me; i put in 70 and 80 hour workweeks to keep the stores stocked and everyone happy. it cured me of shopping and malls forever!

we're glad to have you back.
